Please do not arrive unannounced at the centre because it is not possible to visit during courses. The Vipassana Meditation Centre is located in a quiet valley in the Makarau valley, north of Kaukapakapa, about an hour by road from Auckland City. If travelling up the Northern Motorway, State Highway 1, take the Silverdale exit and turn left and then immediately turn right into Pine Valley Rd. At the end of that road turn right and proceed through Waitoki to SH16 and through Kaukapakapa, which is a very small town. From there turn right after 9.2 km into Makarau Rd and left after 2.5 km into Burnside Rd. The Meditation Centre is 1.7 km along Burnside Rd on the left. There are Vipassana Centre signs at these last two intersections and at the centre entrance.
A shuttle bus is arranged to take people attending courses from Auckland City to the Meditation Centre on the day that courses start.
